3 + 1 pics

I am just going to post three non-related photos today: the first from our pre-surgery walk on the weekend.

We were walking over the swamy area on the trail when, looking down, we saw an iris. Sue took a photo and later in the week was able to use it for a prompt that involved adding text. I like both the photo and the quote.

This ↓ is me once I was changed and settled in my waiting cubicle before surgery. Notice the tubing. It was leading from a heater to a plastic contraption under the blanket with the intention of keeping the patient warm. They were also keen to heat me up post-surgery but with a more conventional heated blanket.

After the de-tethering yesterday, we did our familiar lunch and coffee at the park. Despite it being the twelfth of June, it was windy and cool, so we stayed in the car while still being able to appreciate both the park and the river.

Oh wait . . . I think I will add one more photo: this of our trip home from the hospital on Monday. There was traffic and much rain. Oddly, it was fairly dry once we got back to our town, and we were told that it had hardly rained here at all.

It is almost 9am, and the cat has now been waiting for hours for me to take her down to the kitchen, so off I go.

    1. I am quite surprised Lacey allowed this travesty! Seriously though...9 AM? It sounds as if you had a second night of good sleep!

  2. When I had my knee replaced, they put me into a plastic suit that had a hose attached which blew in warm moist air. It was very cozy.

  3. Love the iris pic and quote.
I assume that you had another good sleep last night so that cat had to wait to eat.

  4. Feels cozy to stay in the car to drink your coffee. Glad you are up and about and caring for the cat!

  5. Beautiful iris photo and nice quote. I am guessing that you had coffee from Tim Hortons. Here in Montreal their cafes are always busy. Their coffee ☕️ is very good.

  6. Love the iris and the quote. I had to turn the heat on this morning. We have rollercoaster temperatures. Lacey was considerate this morning.

  9. It looks as if you're on the mend. Good. As long as they let you lift a cup of coffee.

  10. Lovely photo of the two of you in the car. get well.
why was it necessary to heat you up to that extent? were the hospital rooms chilly?
sorry for asking a silly question!

  12. What an interesting warm-up contraption. They could use lots of those on the cold football game sidelines. Linda in Kansas

  13. Sheesh. The best I ever got was a flannel blanket out of the hot box. I do hope all is going well and you are getting sleep.
We avoided the Queensway entirely on my hospital checkup trip and went home via Baseline Road. I used to drive it all the time when we lived in the city, and I was amazed at the amount of change. And the number of big, big apartment buildings. Glad to be out of that.
Sue really is talented at layout. Love it.

  16. Keeping the patient warm and relaxed makes for a better outcome- before and after surgery

What a difference in demeanour from the eyes down contemplating what was ahead to the warm, relaxed, refreshed open eyed and ready to tackle the world look after your coffee in the car. All good from now on!

  21. So nice to see you both enjoying your coffee. I haven’t seen one of those heating contraptions before. It must have felt very comforting. We are getting a lot of rain tomorrow and thunderstorms. A beautiful Iris and a lovely addition of one of my favorite quotes from my favorite poet. Outstanding! Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

  23. Mary Oliver's quote that you have...is my mantra. What indeed do you intend to do with your wild and precious life?

So glad you are untethered now and hopefully on your way to mend!

That iris is so beautiful. We have many of them in my gardens. :)

  28. That is a cool, nope, hot contraption!
Glad all is well. We're quite baffed by our trips to Ottawa. We just don't sleep well elsewhere. Plus someone gets up several times in the night and that disturbs me!
