Dippity Do Dah

It's January 01 2019, and some Canadians do this ↓.

Can you imagine?

Here is some information for the Polar Bear Dip in Perth, a nearby town.

It's all for a good cause, and if I were 50 years younger , , , well who's to know.

Summer dips are best though.

I love the cold and winter, but doing that is crazy!

Nope! I am not even going to watch! I just took a walk in the forest here. Nippy, but nice.

I spent one new years day in Dusseldorf, and literally hundreds of Germans were floating down the Rhine, most in wet suits, but among the ice flows.
Happy new year

Some crazy Brits also enjoy swimming in the cold water but of course it is much warmer here, no frozen over lakes and rivers. Happy New Year!

Although I am not from or in beautiful Canada, I am a near neighbor... and we too have Polar Bear Plunges!!! I have contemplated participating just to say I did it once.... (and to get an official t-shirt to prove it 🙂). Ours are usually at about the end of January. Now that you reminded me of them, I have to check the site to see if I can finally screw up enough courage and foolishness to do it!

I would stick to summer dips as well. I know in the Netherlands tens of thousands of people will do a New Year dip in either the sea or some lake. I am just shivering thinking about it and then I see the snow in your photos! Get me a blanket now!
