On the Road to Mount Saint Patrick

Just before we took our little daytrip to Burnstown, Calabogie and Eagles Nest, a friend mentioned something positive about Mount Saint Patrick. So, I looked it up on GMaps, found that it wasn't too far from Eagles Nest, and plugged it into the phone.

Eventually, we reached Mount Saint Patrick and discovered that it wasn't really a mountain although it was a settlement in a highland area. Beyond a fine church and a few houses, there was nothing (that we saw) at Mount Saint Patrick.

But the trip from Calabogie to there had been quite wonderful. We had seen a lot of colour from the car so far on that daytrip, but the roads were always too busy and/or the shoulders too narrow to stop and take photos.

But along the little used Ferguson Lake Road to Mount Saint Patrick, it was a different story.

Almost as soon as we made the turn onto Ferguson Lake Road, I was able to pull off and take this photo.

I think this one was from the same spot but I just walked a little farther toward that bend (above).

There was a stream showing nice reflections at some points.

And there were highlands and hillsides in other spots.

I am pleased that this trip was suggested to us.
