Downtown Evening

With decent summer weather finally here, Sue and I headed downtown after supper to get a few evening photos, mostly of townhall, which I like as one word although spellcheck insists that it should be two.

We confined ourselves to the north bank of the Mississippi on the west side of Bridge street and had some fun looking for various points of view.

This ↑ was my first photo or one of them, and is my fave of the evening. It features townhall in the centre with the bridge in front. The light was pretty good with the sun beginning to lower behind me, and the reflections were nice too in this fairly calm evening. One could wish for some clouds in the sky, but you can't always have everything.

Next, ↓ I shifted my vantage point to try to get the full reflection of townhall. In retrospect, I'd like to brighten the photo a bit, but  will present it as is for the moment.

It's good to look for foreground elements to anchor the scene, which is what I was looking for in the following attempts, but you need a good background too, and it was very mediocre in these three cases. But it's all part of the experiment.

We crossed the street to the east side of the bridge, and I took this ↓ looking back over the bridge from where we we had come (on the right).

The Boulton Brown Mill is almost obscured by the summer foliage, but I like the framing.

Sue took this photo of townhall from the east side of the bridge.

And she got a little creative with this one.

We'll have to try to get out more regularly now that the weather is better.

Your whole area looks so photogenic but then you make everything look wonderful. I see where sweet Danica is following in your footsteps too. Wonderful.

Beautiful shots, AC. The sun gives us the energy to get out and about too.

I agree that that first photo is the best of the lot. Although I also do like the last photo. Very creative.
