Night on the Town

Carleton Place held its first Night on the Town evening. Part of Bridge (ie Main) Street was cordoned for vintage vehicles as well as a few vendors. What with the autos, the theme was Retro with the notion to wear vintage clothes from to 50s, 60s and 70s etc.

Since most of us don't have such attire hanging about, I didn't see too much vintage clothing, but it was a very nice night, so quite a few people came out and wandered about.

The cars were gleaming.

And people were happy.

But the most rewarding photos that I took were of a flower bed on a side street as we walked back to the car.

It was good to get out on the town for a short while, especially with the nice weather after it had been gloomy all day. And it is gloomy again this morning.

Looks like fun. We have a similar fest in the summer here. We also have what is called "First Friday" each month when the stores downtown stay open, there's a street fair atmosphere, and generally everyone has a good time. These events are so vital to small towns! Loved the old cars. That '57 Chevy sticking out of the "crowd" brought back memories. I had one of those. Wish I still owned it!
The tulips were the highlight!! Beautiful.

We have attended similar events when living in NJ and VA. Retro cars are always a treat to see, but it appears that your real photo treat were those beautiful tulips, John. You did a very beautiful treatment of these blooms.

I always enjoy those community events where the street closes and everyone strolls about enjoying the vintage cars and shops and the fact you can walk up the middle of the road without being squashed by a bus!
