They're Going on a Cruise

I guess I can pretty much wrap up my series of Christmas blogs with two videos.

When Christmas giving seemed to be over, Mom brought out two suitcases, and when the kids opened them, they found out that they were going on a cruise next December. Their reaction is quite over the moon.

I rolled the camera for ~5" but cut it down to closer to 2" for YouTube. You might want to watch a little of it to see their reactions. Delightful.

No, the grandparents aren't going. We were invited, but we seem to be in the midst of a lot of house and appliance issues these days, so we declined.

In non-family news, we caught one of those schmaltzy Hallmark Christmas movies on YouTube. If this probably illegal link gets taken down, there are probably others, or at least there are at this moment of writing.

The intriguing thing about the movie for us is that it was shot locally, even though it pretends to be in the USA. The main venue is Almonte (with a silent e) which is just 10" up the road, so we recognized a lot of the scenes. And the law offices and court scenes were shot in our very own (as in Carleton Place's), town hall.

With the aid of a Roku stick brought by Santa this Christmas, Sue and I have been able to watch YouTube together on our tv. We have a smart tv, but the only thing that it was smart enough to connect to on its own was Netflix. We have found the old A Touch of Frost episodes on YouTube and are really enjoying seeing them again after a long time without. Yes, we're hooked on British mysteries.

After digressing, I present the movie, which you might enjoy if you have an hour and a half to kill with the feel-good story and if you want to see more of my part of the world in winter.

EDIT: So the movie is already gone from YouTube. It is called The Rooftop Christmas Tree, and here is another link: https://youtu.be/CK90b_CslqE. If that is gone when you click, you now have the title to search for.

It is interesting to see familiar places in a movie. I'll have a look at that one set in your part of Ontario.

The excitementof children warms the soul!

I think they quite like the idea of going on a cruise. And they are even going to a bit of the Netherlands (or France, depending on which side of the island you're on): St Maarten.

Unfortunately your YouTube link didn't work and since you didn't mention the name of the film, I can't even look it up.

Darling grandkids. That will be so much fun for all of them. Sorry you two can't go also.
No film for us, but appreciation for the kind words you leave and your wonderful photographs. :) Happy New Year.

To say that Danica and JJ were cited would be an understatement after watching their video-taped reactions. You Tube provided me with lots of Christmas holiday entertainment while we were in PA for our new granddaughter's arrival. I will look up the one you mentioned.
Happy New year to you and Sue and your entire family.

Well, it is illegal to upload copywritten material!!! No wonder they took down your video!
We don't have enough bandwidth to watch full movies.
There was much publicity about the movie!

Our kids are thinking of a trip over March Break. Makes me sad, as I wanted to babysit...they are young for such a short time.
