Post Production

I showed you some local house pics the other day, all with snow and Christmas lights. After letting them sit for awhile, I decided that some post processing amendments were in order.

I think the dark sky was too black in all of the photos, so I softened the above photo with some fake snow. I also lit the house a little bit more.

I think it helped by softening the photo and adding a little extra interest. I did the same thing below. It's not exactly the same point of view in the two photos but it's the same house. This was the house where the lady came out to chat for a bit.

I didn't think the following photo required snow, but I thought it needed something to take it to the next level.

So, I changed the sky. I used one of my star photos from the summer.

I think it helps quite a lot.

I could probably do the sky replacement thing  in the first two photos as well, but it's not that important to me as I'm just experimenting with different techniques. I mean to say, none of my work is going to make it to the Louvre, so there is a limit to what I will do (he said grinning).

So that was the result of my experimenting. Sometimes, you just have to let things sit and gel for awhile before the light (so to speak) dawns on you. I'm glad I made the changes that I did in these cases.

I think I will turn the last photo into a Christmas card. There is enough room at the bottom for a "Merry Christmas." So ... you will probably see this photo one more time closer to the 25th..

Good choice and fantastic sky.

PS: I downloaded my favourite photo from your other post and have it as background on my computer. It looks very festive!

You have motivated me to post some of my photo paintings in my next blog post in a day or two. I will be interested in what you think since you seem to enjoy this as much as I with the same attitude that it is for fun not sales.

Amazing, simply amazing!!! Of course, I know nothing about which you speak, at least photographically, but I enjoy your talents and enthusiasm for your hobby. :)

You stirred everyone up. :) Yes, I mostly like the snow. It works realistically in that first house. No, I don't like the sky lightened. Here we have dark skies, and the drama helps make the shot.

Lovely fun you are having.
