Danica is Learning to Skate

It is a good thing if kids learn to swim. Another good thing if you're Canadian is to learn to skate. JJ is doing well with his hockey team, but Danica hasn't had much opportunity. And she has found it exasperating the once or twice she has gone to skating parties with her friends. So, Mom put her in skating lessons, and we just attended one.

As you will see if and when you get to the video at the end of this post, she finds it difficult. But I loved how she kept at it without complaint throughout the session. Way to go, kid. What we can't control is what is easy for us and what is hard. What we can control is our attitude.

By the looks of it, she is going to be just fine. Another few lessons and she will be wizzing by! Even the beginning and end of this short video show a difference. At first she moved by jerking her body and in the end she made her feet do the work.

Way to go Danica!

That must have been quite the experience. Kids learn new things fast enough. Warm greetings to you!

And this is how we learn. Her balance is coming along and she appears braver as time progressed just over that short time. Well done.

I hope that I feel confident as Danica when we finally get some snow and we try snow shoeing for the first time. Kids sure learn quicker than older folks.

It's wonderful that Danica keeps trying! I think she skates better than I do...and I'm not kidding. ;)

sweet and still familiar to me...I never forgot how hard it was to learn to skate. So I tried, learned and gave it up.
Not the best choices.
