Weekend Pics

With the A Team (Allyson and Alycia) flying in all of the way from Vancouver for the weekend, times were busy these past few days. Very hectic indeed. That included this morning, when Sue and I got up at 4:30 to take Allyson to the airport for 6:30. Needless to say, it was pitch dark, and with the roads rather sloppy from weekend snow, I did not enjoy the drive. However, we got there and back in one piece.

I thought I would just post a few random shots from the weekend. They don't tie together in any coherent fashion, but it's about all I can muster in my present state. Maybe I will post more in a few days, and I am certain that Sue will.

Danica is only in grade one, but she reads beyond her grade level and is constantly working on lists etc. In this first photo, she works a crossword with Auntie Allyson's assistance.

Somewhat later, it was Grandma's turn to look over her shoulder.

Zackers the elf is on the mantel in the next photo. His visits start on December 01, and you never know where he will pop up next. On his first visit, he is polite enough to leave a note, which Danica is holding up in the photo. Dani was gloriously adorned for the tree decorating festivities of Sunday afternoon. Not much arm twisting is necessary to get her to doll up.

Eric kept himself quite busy doing important things, like practicing the Vulcan mind meld on the cat. I think the cat resisted successfully, as cats are wont to do.

Grandma also knew just what to do and when to do it.

Jonathan is not a heavy eater, and he's not a boy for too many sweets, but like his grandpa, he sure likes salty snacks. The trouble is that his grandpa also like all other kinds of food and snacks.

This is the A Team, Allyson and Alycia, almost ready to brave the cold for the town's Santa Claus Parade. It was pretty nippy, so they had to bundle up well. Living in balmy Vancouver, they are scarcely used to our kind of winter weather any more, but they were game. With back problems galore, grandma and grandpa missed the parade this year. It's a long parade and necessitates a long time of standing in heavy coats. Maybe next year.

They are so cute. This grandma and papaw cannot tolerate those parades any more either. Too cold and too long.

Beautiful family photos....
I love them all!
Danica is so precious, and please tell her how proud we are that she is reading so well!
We are in short sleeves today as the high this coming Thursday is suppose to be 81. We did have a 'cool' spell on Thanksgiving, though. Winter can't decide what to do down here in the Deep South.
:))
Hugs,
Jackie

Danica looks just a little too mature in that photo with Zackers. But adorable. Lovely portraits, one and all. Nice to see Allyson and her beloved. I don't think I've ever seen them before.

No theme? it looks like happiness, except for the cat.

Nice to see more of the family, AC, as always. Danica does look so preety in her holiday dress up and Jonathan's hat looks good on him, a nice plushy one. Guess no parade pics this year, but standing in the cold for a long time isn't much fun, unless you are very young. We will watch the parade tonight in the film, A Christmas Story and be nice and warm and seated too.

Lovely record of a fine family weekend! Her majesty appears to be wearing lipstick in the 'dresses up' photo. Huge envy here as my parents did not allow makeup until I was 16.
