Grinning and BEARing It

For those of you who hold to the stereotype that Canada is nothing but wilderness with bear lurking behind every tree ...

... perhaps you're right because this guy was in somebody's backyard inside the city limits of our capital city on the weekend.

In our defense, the Ottawa city limits extend well beyond the built up area where there is quite an extensive greenbelt. Still, it keeps the stereotype alive. Eh?

Another stereotype is that we say Eh? all of the time. Personally, I don't use it though, eh?

You are right AC, I did think that there were bears lurking all about in Canada but not really in town! That would have unnerved me a bit, far scarier than Mr. Toad! Eh?
Love Di ♥

Think I'd rather stick to having fairies at the bottom of my garden, thanks...

You find wildlife in the most unusual places. For example, our friends live in a city environment in heavily populated Washington, DC. Yet, they cannot have a successful garden because deer come and eat the plants. Yet, we live on the VA east shore in a small town (pop. 500) with a wooded area in back of our property and bunnies in the yard and have yet to have them both the garden. No, we don't have it fenced or wired. The bunnies seem content with the grass clover and we've never even seen a deer in this area, but they are around!

So I was not surprised to see that the bear was outside the city limits, eh :-)

Accents are delightful, but I don't have one. :)

I have seen two bears in my life, both cubs, and both in remoter and forested areas. We were walking the second time, when a cub dashed across the road. Fearful of Momma bear we stopped and then retreated. Didn't see her though.

Most Europeans don't hear the difference between an American and a Canadian. Although I do know when they are from the south of the US.

However, you did just blow my idea of wildlife in Canada completely out of the water! Perhaps I should just bring my teddy along...
