The Inukshuk

On Canadian Olympic coverage at least, we often see a glimpse of a large Inukshuk. It is on English Bay, which happens to be outside the girls' front door, so we walked past it any number of times this past summer, just as we did two years ago. Anyway ... today I happened to remember this photo and thought I would share it with you.

Here are several more photos from English Bay, taken at various intervals during our ten day vacation. The first is of Cuppa, sitting near that same Inukshuk in the evening after our long walk around the seawall in Stanley Park.

Here are a few photos from that 15 - 20 km hike around the Stanley Park seawall.

Finally, a few more photos in or from Stanley Park: note the palm tree in the last photo of Third Beach.

Gosh, I thought that looked familiar. I once lived on Whidbey Island...we could practically throw a rock and hit Canada (not that we tried, we liked our big Northern neighbor, lol). Kind of chokes me up to see all the beauty again...thank'ee for posting those pics...did you photoshop that PALM in there???

I have an Inukshuk pendant that my husband bought me when he was up north on business several years ago, it is made of soap stone and I love it.

I remember these photo's when you came home from visiting your daughter and I enjoy just as much now as then.

Hope you and Jboy are feeling better.......:-) Hugs

A person can forget how beautiful Vancouver can be---but you've taken just the right photos to help me remember.

I thought it (the OG-thingy) looked familiar, but couldn't quite place it. Thank you for the photos again and now I know what the OG-thingy is: an Inukshuk!

Wow! These photos are great! My favorites are the Inukshuk at night (lovely) and for composition, the one with the log on the beach and the one with the gull on the post. There are very interesting details especially noticeable in the log photo. The log is dead center horizontally and the sea/sand border cuts half way up its ends. The light top half of the log contrasts with the darker (shadowed) lower half and has a nice symmetry with the light sand and darker water. I like the four ships on the horizon framed by the two sloping shores and the diagonal clouds! Top notch!

The heck with going to Europe or South America. I'm going to head North if I can figure how to pay for it. Your pictures are the clincher !!

And here I assumed the Inukshuk was from somewhere around Nunavut.

You never know.

Thanks for sharing the great photos and for straightening me out.
