Trash Talk

What with having Nikki Dee over for two sleepovers on the weekend and with other goings on, I've been just a titch distracted and blog-unmotivated lately. Also, with Celtfest coming up on the weekend and visitors possibly arriving, the distractedness promises no letup.

I am so distracted, in point of fact, that I have had a merry time taking the garbage and recycling in and out. Last Wednesday was Canada Day, so there was no pickup, but, of course, I had put out the trash regardless. In my defense, so did most of our neighbours. Nevertheless ...

That might have been understandable seeing that it is our normal garbage day, and because we never know how they're going to deal with a holiday anyway. They might choose to show up on a holiday or on the very next day. Well, they did collect the trash on the next day, but not the blue boxes (recycling). After a day or so we neighbours figured it out, and most of us brought our blue boxes back in, out of sight. Most, but not all. Which is partly responsible for my subsequent confusion.

Come Monday evening, Cuppa had left a bag of kitchen garbage for me to put out in the bin. Well, along with the fact that some neighbours still had their recycling out, I got myself all confused, thought it was garbage night again, and took it all out to the curb. It didn't help that I was going out that night because we used to go out on Tuesday, garbage night, and I tend to associate going out with garbage night.

So, I took it all to the curb before Cuppa could ask me what the heck I was doing and set me straight. Back in it came.

As I said, I've been distracted. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

However, last night was the real night, and I'm happy to report that the third time is a charm. I got it out to the curb, and the blue boxes have already been seen to. Hooray!

Sorry to say it, but your posts are piling up, and there's a bunch that I might have to let go. Maybe I'll get back into the groove next week. If not ... well it's summer ... eh?

Be well while I try to gather my rather loose wits.

A funny thing about trash: In our neighborhood, they changed the day and forgot to notify us. That meant no trash pick-up until people started figuring it out on their own.

Stinky neighborhood for a week or two! :)

Oh the vagaries of modern existence. Trash night? when is trash night?
Ah for the olden days when we could just toss our trash into the street. Those were the days. ;-)

AC, I know you gotta do what you gotta do, but I will sure miss your humor, most of all, if you take me off your list. I visit nearly everyday just for a good laugh. I love the trash story. That happens to my hubs also, and the blue barrels, we never know. Blessings

AC,

I can understand your confusion. It used to be that way here but now the garbage people have chosen to work holidays because if not, they have to work on Saturday. They would rather have the weekend off than a day in the middle of the week. It makes it much less confusing for everyone involved. The only holiday they don't pick up is Christmas and then it is always the following day.

Enjoy your weekend and have fun. Don't forget to take lots of photos.

Blessings,
Mary

Your confusion over the garbage pickup and your "I don't really care" attitude make me wonder if senility is setting in. Perhaps, Cuppa can find a less challenging chore for you.:)

What with garbage and chamber pots being emptied in the street, you lead an eventful life! Good to hear it all worked out in the end though...

Just be glad that you don't live in T.O., I hear it's getting pretty stinky there with the garbage strike into it's third week now!

Lucky you're getting garbage pick up. Herein Toronto it's just piling up, with no end in sight.

I picture you rolling back and forth with your head lowered, leveraging your poor pitiful overstuffed can. Garbage can, that is.

Hey, it is summer. And it's hard to be motivated all the time. I'm thinking on cutting back and maybe even cold turkey!

And then I get the chills and run back here. Maybe tomorrow...

You're allowed a "loose wit" or two. I'm amazed you can blog as much as you do.

I just had to comment a second time. You reminded me so much of my late husband with your reference to my "leggy tomatoes". He would have thought the same way and been proud of his witty remark! You men....

Just as I climb over the trash in mylife that has kept me from blogging and reading, I find you set to go. We had intnese family things this weekend. I wish we could have done Celtfest but given our location, we're doing Bluesfest whether we want to or not. Just did a walk-by of Los Lonely Boys---grerat!!

The Mountain Man has to put the trash cans into the back of the car and take them down the hill on Tuesday morning (our trash day). The recycling goes in the back of my car whenever we get a full load to take to the recycling center, because no one will pick that up.

You may have noticed I've been a bit distracted from my poor blog lately as well.
