Gazing Upon the Gazer

Almost a last minute decision, Cuppa and I travelled to the Willow Place Inn in Hudson Quebec for our official anniversary day, the 17th. After a long trip of shunpiking, we were rather tired and ready to relax. That's when I took this photo of Cuppa looking out the window. Perhaps I'll post pictures of the view or of the trip in general some other time, but this post is just about Cuppa and this picture.

That's the original above, just as I took it with just a little cropping and mild adjusting. Then, I thought this one was worthy of experimentation. First, I applied a few filters to give it a painterly look (note: they're all somewhat enlargeable by clicking on them).

So, wondered I, what would it look like in black and white. Here's the answer.

Finally, given the history and style of the Inn, I decided to go for sepia.

Somewhat unusually, I like all versions of this one and find it difficult to pick a favourite although I'd probably opt for the original if severely pressed. What about you?

It is a lovely picture of Cuppa ~ and all of the different versions are beautiful, but if i had to pick a favourite, i would pick the sepia.

You seem obsessed with this woman! You just can't get enough pictures of her in different moods.

Is that what marriage is all about. I never learned that lesson.

I think the black and white is the most atmospheric...

I think I'd go with the original too (though they're all lovely). I like the way there is very little colour in the rest of the picture, but the red sweater just gives it that little bit of magic.

Yes, I'm keen on the original too, although the sepia is lovely as well. What a great shot.

My favourite is the sepia one, but that's probably more about nostalgia than technique. You sure take a good photo.

This is a very nice pic of your wife! I think I like the original best. The second one is good too with the slight changes.

Difficult to chose but I rather like the sepia one.

The colour values in the original are wonderful; I also like the sepia version. What about doing the four versions in one strip frame, or a square one?
Looking forward to the trip post. and Cuppa is one gorgeous lady.

I also prefer the original...the light is perfect and I like red. But each of the others has its own merits too.
