Brush By Brush

I notice this house almost daily. It's one of those fine old Victorian types of houses that linger here and there.

To their credit, the owners have resisted siding it.

To my dismay, they are also taking forever to paint the thing. You see, this is our fourth September here, and there was scaffolding up in that very first September. It came down sometime before winter, but it was up the following summer and the next and this one just past as well. Oh they do make progress, but it's rather slow going, and I think I've only ever seen someone painting just once. It seems to me that it will take at least another summer or two before they're done. By then, it will probably be time to start all over.

I wonder if there will ever be a summer without scaffolding. Perhaps I'll miss it when it's gone.

It's all okay and not my business, but it's just something that strikes me as a bit unusual, so I thought I would share the photo and explanation with you.

And it makes for an easy blog.

And easy is good.

There is an old house close to where i live being renovated too. I think they have been at it for a couple of years now ~ and not any further forward or closer to moving in!
It is a nice house that you have pictured ~ i wonder what it is like inside??!
I would love to stay in a house with a porch.

Oh! I love that old house and have always wished I could live in such a place! If it were mine I would want to get it in top shape ASAP.

It does make you wonder, doesn't it? Like, do they think they're going to start, and the painters go on strike? Is it the owners, and they rent the scaffolding every year, but they're horrible procrastinators and it just doesn't happen? Is there some kind of rot that they find?

Take them a neighborly coffee cake and find out!

Easy blogging! :o) I'm doing that at the moment too!
This house kind of reminds me The Waltons... well, it looks a bit like the old Walton house. :o)

I personally think its fascinating what the mind can entertain about things like why this house hasn't been finished.
People most likely think the same thing about us when they ride by our house 3 years after we purchased it and "still" don't have all the landscape complete. We did say we are on the 5 year plan and we are just about on schedule but I know that people ride by and think, "why don't they do something with those bushes and paint that ease?

If someone brought me a neighborly coffee cake, I'd be happy to share with them why it has taken so long. :)

That is a beautiful house! But it sure would be a lot of work to paint it.

It's a beautiful looking house. Old houses take a lot of work but even embee didn't take that long painting our victorian house!

Love the house. I've actually heard it recommended that you should paint one side each year, on a four year rotation. We're an all at once old house family, or not at all!
