Leaking Through the Slats

So, just for a change, I thought I'd post some photos today. I mean to say that variety is the spice, eh what? Well, at least the photos are more or less different from post to post.

Solstreaks 1

As I peered out from the bedroom window yesterday, I was quite taken with the streaks of light eking their ways through the fence slats. At first I thought that it would be a good candidate for b&w treatment (above), but I seem to have been wrong as the coloured version (below) looks much better to me. Some people can look at a photo and immediately ascertain how best to present it, but that ability seems to elude me. Anyway, I do like the coloured version.

In case you wondered, yes, those are Christmas lights still hanging from the fence. We're thinking of them as seasonal lights, doncha know. I've posted the original photo below, so you can see where I started. I cropped it because I wanted to emphasize the streaks of light and did the rest because I wanted to make it look better — to me, at least.

I like the colored photo better too, especially the subtle blue tint of the shadowed snow.

Hey - Thanks for the new wallpaper for my PC!

I like them both, the B&W evokes a more stark winter where the color really warms up the backround and makes a nice contrast.

Yep - I like the colored. That's sunlight creating the effect, right? Sunlight. Hmmmm. It's been such a long time . . let's see. It's bright, warm . . makes you happy. I kinda remember it. Hmmmm.

I'm voting for the black and white, it makes the fence look dark and dramitic.

I like the colored photo more. Your pictures in your blog are very beautiful.

They both are differently lovely. The B&W I find more tranquil.

Like the tree of the post below too. :)

As always, I love your photography. The light and shadow play is really interesting.

All three are beautiful, considering the small amount of snow we get to see. In fact, we have seen exactly none this season. ec

Nice crop and tones. I think I like the black and white the best. It seems to emphasize the sun through the slats.

I like both versions! I use Picasa for picture manipulations. It's easy to use and it is free! Yeepee!

I agree.. the coloured one looks the best. Love how the streaks of light show on the snow. Quite a lovely photo.

The coloured one is lovely - the brown looks very warm as a contrast to the snow. The b/w version looks a bit spooky to me.
