It Could Have Been Worse

The upshot of my hearing aid tragedy of about ten days ago is that it can be fixed – sort of.

As you know, I trod upon it and smashed the shell to smithereens. However, we gathered said smithereens and sent them off for a post mortem. Apparently, the electronics still function. The company still has the specs for the ear mould and will put Humpty back together again for just a little over three hundred dollars. I am rather relieved.

I'm not sure when I'll receive the refurbished piece, but I will be happy when I do.

Yes, it could have been worse — much worse.

Lucky you. I've heard that there are insurance policies for hearing aids. I said, I HEAR there are.....

Gusty sighs of relief on your behalf. I'm glad you didn't have to "shell" out for a whole 'nother set.

Some of these commenters are making me laugh!

Good thing you won't have to shell out too much dough.

Maybe next time you can tape it into your ear or something. Or even just a wad of gum or something. You know, so it won't fall out. ;)

Hey listen (sorry), if they’re gonna fix it anyway, have them install a plug for the iPod so you can insert a wire into your ear instead of taking them out.

Sounded like a good idea.

So glad to hear it wasn't as bad as you thought. $300 hurts... but not as much as it could have. Let us know when you get it back!

Hi, my friend, hope you don't mind me blogging on your post.
In England we have such a thing as National Health Service. Do you have anything like this and would they not pay for this? Obviously not. Mind you, with our heath service you'd probably have to wait 9 months before you got your ears back.
Here's hoping you'll be fully equipped again very soon.

I am glad it's going to be fixed. I am glad to be able to read here with the aid of my glasses, which I can never find...LOL!

Praying they are quick about it!

In the mean time, you may just enjoy the peaceful solitude?

Wow... reminds me of the fears I had when my hard drive packed it in. The cost of repair and retrieval of potentially lost informaiton was a small price to pay.
