Courageous and Inspirational Brits

There is nothing much that I can add to the day's sad events in London. It's all being said elsewhere better than I could ever hope to say it. I grieve with you Brits, but let me say that I am also so impressed by you. The calm, aplomb and grace by which you carry yourselves at such a time is truly amazing and inspirational. Sometimes when I read or watch British mysteries, I often think that I am a Brit at heart, and with my lineage that's not much of a stretch. Well, my heart is certainly with you today.

This sort of news chills me to the core. Those poor people and their families. My heart goes out to them.

Not a day goes by when I commute that I don't consider this sort of catastrophe happening.

I'm completely on edge now. My husband is away on business again, and news of this nature worries me to pieces. Remind me to move OUT of the city very soon!

I agree with Karla. Could something like this occur on our "GO trains"? I'm an engineer, AC. I operate the darn things. We're trained on what to do in case of emergencies, but something like what happened in London would have us completely overwhelmed.

It's hard to know what to say or think. I see a general devolution of humanity around the world....So very sad, so tragic. It's hard to make sense of the level of violence in our world.....

Is that where the bombings happened? I was watching the news while trying to get TJ to bed and make the baby stop crying. I saw that somewhere there was a bombing. Wasn't it a terrorist thing? Hmmm, common sense says I should just go and look it up. Well, maybe tomorrow when I have some time.

What a drastic change from the jubilation of getting the 2012 Olympics. I'm wondering if now they are viewing the event with dread.

People can become so misguided and full of hate. I wish I was mature enough to feel sorry for them and forgive them, but I am not there yet.

While not taking away from the Brits and the unexceptable, chilling and evil act this is, we should not be blinded to the fact that in Iraq not a week goes by -- indeed, nary a day -- when an equal number of innocent human beings (no less Gods creatures) are likewise treated like so much cannon fodder.

I thought twice about posting this because I didn't wan't folks to take it wrongly. I'm not trying to diminish the suffering of the Brits, but rather lift up our awarenes of the human tragidy played out daily in Iraqis. I hope I've not offended anyone.

Thanks everybody and especially to -epm for the reminder. I am guilty of becoming desensitized to the daily goings-on in Iraq.
